The Groggy Owl
A ONE WOMAN SHOW
THE GIRL BEHIND THE GROGGY OWL
I'm just a girl trying to spread a little joy, one handmade jewellery piece at a time. The Groggy Owl began with my passion for all things handmade, and a desire to get away from mass-produced, generic accessories.
My love for jewellery-making goes as far back as my childhood, having parents who always made sure I had some sort of creative outlet. Much of my spare time growing up was filled with a variety of arts and crafts, including making jewellery - a hobby I carried into adulthood. After much encouragement from family & friends - I turned my creative hobby into a small business & launched The Groggy Owl on Esty in October 2017.
Currently, The Groggy Owl is a one woman show. Meaning I do everything from product design, creation, photography, marketing, social media advertising, packaging, jewellery modelling, customer service - you name it!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
WHY THE GROGGY OWL?
- I really do treat every order as if I'm preparing a special gift
- Fast response time - I typically respond to inquiries the same day
- Almost everything on the shop can be customized
- Custom orders are more than welcome - in fact, they're my favourite!
- Handmade items have a certain charm you just can't get otherwise
- Personalized or not, I strive to make my jewellery fun & unique
Whether it's by using upcycled or locally-sourced materials, or by creating custom, meaningful pieces - I create jewellery that you can feel good about.
NO, WHY IS IT CALLED 'THE GROGGY OWL'?
Oh. I like owls, and I’m always tired. A lot of my jewellery making happens in the middle of the night, or very early in the morning.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY 'HAND-STAMPED'?
Many of my items are hand-stamped, meaning each letter or design was individually hammered by hand into the metal by yours truly! Because of this, there may be slight variations in the alignment and impressions. Not only is this just the nature of hand-stamped pieces - but it's also part of the charm!
HOW DO YOU MAKE YOUR UPCYCLED PIECES?
The process depends on which upcycled materials are used in each piece, whether it's upcycled plastic, fabric, copper or "re-claimed" materials. Visit my blog post on my upcycled process to learn more.
